JOURNAL ENTRY DAY 13: JUNE 28, 2007
When God calls us to do something it usually isn’t the most comfortable or convenient of circumstances. It would be great if when we STAND it was a breezy seventy-two degrees, and sometimes by His grace we get that. But, today was not that day.
It started out hot and humid, and our STAND looked a bit more like a sit. Sweat dripped off of the troops as we pressed in to intercede. Each breath seemed as if we were standing in a sauna; you taste the heat crossed over our tongues. Then, a suddenly took place. Out of nowhere the clouds immediately rolled in and the heavens began to open. In a matter of minutes the skies went from clear and sunny to grey and cloudy.
This was no little shower. It was a flash flood. The water on the street was near running over the curbs. Cars were driving by and splashing water on those closest to the street. There was nowhere to shelter and no escaping the rains. I looked on everyone’s face, most still blindfolded. Blue water was running down our cheeks and noses from the blue bandanas we use. All of us were smiling and laughing and enjoying what poured over us. All continued to STAND after given the option to leave. That is diligence and perseverance. The mandate is still before us regardless of what the weather does.
Before the rains came down, a husband and wife came to talk to one of our spokesmen. They handed him a box with a large bottle of anointing oil in it. This is the second time perfumed anointing oil has been given to us on Church Street. Could this be a sign of the hour that Joel 2 is about to be released upon us? Is the anointing in our lives rising to a new level?
Attached with the bottle were descriptions of the different anointing oils. The oil we received was Pomegranate. According to the paper it means the “Sevenfold Blessings”. It goes on to read; “Pomegranates are one of the seven species the spies brought back with them to show how fertile the Promised Land was. It speaks of God’s favor exhibited in, fruitfulness, abundance and blessing. The sevenfold blessing speaks of completeness.” The Hebrew definition for pomegranate is upright growth, exalt, get oneself up, lift up, to mount up. They continue to write; “To stand in whose you are. We are sons and daughters of the King. It (the oil) is used to release the Father’s blessing and the Mother’s blessing. The prophet, priest, and king decreeing, declaring, and proclaiming is done with this oil. God releases His powerful blessing over us versus the curse, speaking life versus death, and His power of being clean overcoming the unclean.”
How awesome is God? The ways He uses to encourage us are of the scale. Everything we have been standing for continues to be confirmed time and time again. We believe God is serious about being clean before Him.
Joel tells us that God will save one who is not innocent by the purity of our hands. Purity precedes power. As we were standing a young man walks up. He asks what was going on, so one of our spokesmen explained. The man exclaimed that he needed prayer, so promptly our guy was on it. HE said; “Let’s pray now.” During this time of prayer all of heaven rejoiced. God ambushed this young man on the street. He prayed to receive Jesus in his heart and added that he needed his life to be completely free. He ran off with a smile on his face and a bounce in his step. God will do some amazing things with our lives if we will just step up. Pray for this young man today – his name is Jerome. Pray that he will be rooted, grounded and established in the foundation of Jesus Christ, and that the seed will not be choked out.
