JOURNAL ENTRY DAY 14: JUNE 29, 2007
Even in doing the same thing, God does a new thing. There is nothing new to Him. Our job is to hold the course, and He never disappoints. Life as a Christian can always be exciting when we live on the edge with Christ and follow Him wherever He may lead.
Following Jesus to Church Street has been an adventure. Some days we are surrounded in His grace, and other days we feel what He feels for the lost. Today we felt both. The manifestations of the unseen realm have gradually been increasing.
A trio of teens walked by today keeping their distance. As they got closer the insults began to borage us. A mocking spirit was manifesting through them, and they spit their hateful laughter and scorns. The mocked a homeless man on the corner as they continued on in their speech. Right then, I saw a picture of the Lord carrying His cross on that crowded road. How He was mocked, ridiculed and spit upon. I felt His peace surround us and just began to smile at the youngsters and pray for them. What’s a little laughter anyway?
A little later on I saw this homeless man again. He is always at a corner pleading with cars for money to feed his need. His tongue is swollen and he continuously chomps his jaw. He walks in the middle of the road like a lost puppy that can’t find his way. He never holds a sign; he walks up to the window and forcibly asks; “Got any change.”
He walked up to one van and repeated his request. I could see the guy respond that he wasn’t giving him money, because he wouldn’t spend it on food. The homeless man responded to him, which made the driver mad. The man open his door and started towards the beggar. The homeless man began to run away.
I looked in stupor, not knowing what to do. I was preparing myself to defend the defenseless. A few minutes later I noticed that same van had circled around. He was stopped at the light and curious as to what we were doing. A spokesman answered hi request for information and approached the vehicle. He stated we were praying and repenting on behalf of the Church. The man in the van answered to the tune of; “Well, you won’t like me then.” The response was; “Well why not.” This man began to state that he was a satanist. Our spokesman was on his toes and replied, “Well, Jesus loves you right where you at.” The love of Christ covers a multitude of sins, even satanism. The hardest of hearts can melt in that love.
The love of Christ radiates from that corner as we STAND. It draws and intrigues people. A little girl came by our lone and asked what we were doing and why we were standing outside this building. The leader speaking with her asked if she knew Jesus. She said she did. He explained our stance of prayer and why we were there. He asked if she understood and she replied; “yes.” She was curious as to what was going on, so her mom pulled over so she could ask. That sparked a conversation about Jesus between them.
The best thing today happened last. A man came up earlier to stand with us. He looked a little out of place, even to the alarm of one of the watchmen. He asked what we should do. I said let him stand. If things aren’t right with him God will reveal it and expose his heart. The man stood there a while, and then was on his knees. I walked by him and he stood to approach me. He asked who he could talk with to reconfirm his heart with God. I quickly said let’s pray. As I began praying he dropped to his knees in front of the smut shop. After praying a while he started confessing his heart and sins right there on the street. He was in tears before the Lord. We prayed together and he gave his heart to Jesus. How awesome is God? That is what this is all about. Thy Kingdom come.
