JOURNAL ENTRY DAY 2: JUNE 17, 2007
The battle belongs to the Lord…
We marched the streets eager to take our positions on the wall. The Lord has sent an eclectic array of young and old warriors for this battle. What a great group of people we have.
We feel a real pressing of Gideon’s mighty men. Unlike last year where we had hundreds standing in the beginning and just a few months later, this year is the exact opposite. We started with thirty, which is still a lot when you stand in front of a building, but by the end of this Stand we will have thousands marching the street in repentance. We know the vision the Lord has laid before us, and we stand in anticipation of seeing the fullness of that vision come to pass.
As we arrive at the corner of Church and I-40 we could feel a remarkable holy reverence. Even in the midst of the enemy’s camp there can still be peace. The Lord said He would prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemy’s. We are living these days.
I stand in awe as we all cry out in silence for our nation. As the Scripture is proclaimed on the street while we pray, we understand the nourishing power of God’s Word and the purifying agent that it is. Oh, how the Word keeps us alert and focused. It also stirs the powers and principalities of that area.
All in all it was a quiet day, until the end. As Revelation was being read and the redeeming power of Christ was proclaimed; a young couple walk by. Dressed all in black, they began mocking those standing and the reading of the Word. The manifestation of the spirit realm began to take form. By this time we were wrapping up our day. The couple came running back around the corner wanting to ask questions. The only question those opposing us usually fire at us with is; why aren’t you feeding the homeless? By God’s grace we are able to give them our story of working in the inner city for years, and how we feed the homeless every week and serve the poor. Then we invite them to come and join us, but they never take us up on our offer. They are totally stripped of their ammunition and usually retreat. Justice and compassion work hand and hand together, and we must have both.
